Think you are embarrassed? I marked on of the 1st email notifications I got as SPAM! So when you see something weird, it's just ME

OK! So we don't want to talk about dementia or caregiving, let's see. What kind of car do you have and do you have any pets? That should get us started, right?

OK, Your turn

LOL!!!
I drive a Chevy Impala!!
It's roomy enough for Hubby to get in and out of with out much trouble and the trunk is big enough to throw the wheelchair in.
We have a dog that has recently been allowed in the house to see if she would be able to help alleviate some of Hubby's anxiety.

WAIT THIS is still caregiving!! LOL

I completely understand that I NEED to talk about caregiving/dementia. Especially when trying to offer support for others.
I think sites like this are vital for our well being.
I have learned so much from others. Some things work, some things don't and what's best is I can say whatever I feel about caregiving good or bad and know that nobody will be offended or angry because "they get it". It's good to know that :)

Next :)

I'm on a couple of forum myself and would be lost without them. Keeps me somewhat sane, yea right

We are cat people here. Had 4 but time took its' toll and we lost 3 of our precious loves---one in o7,one in 08, and another in 09. Our poor ole man, Hercules, has never been without cat friends. I was a shelter home for a local rescue agency and was a foster mommy for newborn orphan kittens for many years. Hercules is one of my special rescues. I miss the little ones very much. Watching them grow and learn. Watching them open their eyes and learn to walk, etc. It's an experience like none other. I just can't care for my mom and be mommy to a litter of or two of new born kittens. But I sure do miss the little kittens. In fact, so does Hercules.

We drive a Saturn SUV---it was moms' treat. She had never, ever had a new car and wanted one before she died. But I refused to let her drive anymore, so she compromised and bought it but I drive it. It was a super treat for me too. I had never had a new car either. It certainly helps with the wheelchair issue too.

So, what else? Let's see? Want to share locations? :?:

so. I'm a little confused after reading some of the responses. I think Phatcathy, you mentioned sometimes you don't want to talk about dementia? Did that mean you don't want to talk about it on this site? I think talking about the caretaking aspect of dementia as well as tips and venting helps. Who else can understand our sudden bursts of laughing over something others don't see as funny.

Finding the humor sometimes keeps me sane.

New Friend to my husband: " how old are you?"
Husband: "55"
Friend: "hmmm"
Me to husband quietly : "you do know you're 75"
Husband: "What!!!! I am not!!!" becomes angry.

Next day
Me to husband: "How old are you today?"
Husband: "What day is it?" (hahahahahaha) ok, this is where only caretakers would laugh.
Me: "Today is Saturday"
Husband: "56"
Me: "yep. Let's go have lunch."

So...do we have a different site for the caretaking jokes and woes?

Well, if we do not have a site for humor and jokes we need one. So, who wants to start it?

Another idea would be a good book list. I've read a few but they seem hard to find. Some are helpful factually
and some are stories that are funny, and for everything in-between. I'll check the site, maybe there's a place for this already.

Hi everyone,,,,,, I am just now replying to this forum. Sorry, late but I still would like to get to know all of you.

I am mysterymind and I am the wife and caregiver of my husband of 35 yrs. We are both 56. My dear husband(dh) is in stage 6/7 of this horrible disease. I am here to learn all that I can and am sorry I have not checked in earlier.

I have read the post here and am glad to meet all of you.

I love to read but don't have much time. We live in Lake Charles, La. We have three sons but only one lives near by. We have five grandchildren, one puppy, and one cat.

I am ending for now but will definitely check in again. Maybe if I am lucky I will find my way back to this forum. Praying all of you have a great week ahead and hope to hear from you soon......

Well, I have been a bad forum friend by not checking in so we are even.

Welcome mysterymind. Seems just a few of us are taking advantage of this little place to bond with like people. It is so important, in my opinion, to have a place like this to vent, cry, share and learn that we are not alone in this fight.

Thanks for responding to my reply. I also know we need a special place to go when the world is closing down around us. It is good to share, vent, cry, and take a few minutes away to collect ourselves. I feel that we can do this better with others that understand what each of us are going thru. I hope we can still communicate after this study is over. I think we are able to stay on this site for up to a year. Can't stay long but will try to check in daily. To all a good night and will check in again soon.

Good Morning Mystery or at least let's hope so, right!

No real news around here. I had a bit of a health scare myself yesterday. But then I'm not surprised. Had one of my more difficlut panic attacks. My heart rate dropped and my blood pressure even dropped to a scarey level. How I hate these things. Spent the day in bed sleeping on and off. Of course, mom had her panic button so I was able to calm myself down by dinner time. But even this morning I have residual affects left.

Hope all is going alright for you and yours. No major trials or tribulations. I hope your day goes well
